I forget what movie it was (and the Internet Movie Database was no
help)--some NYC art scene documentary a good 20 years ago--that shows Laurie Anderson
playing the tape head violin.
Seem to recall Tim Kaiser, the fellow whose site of FX/synths built into old
test equip etc. came up here a few days ago, did something similar with a
cello. Okay, the Electro-Cello, as seen here:

Darryl and Nate's respective tape collage projects sound very fun. Ditto
the request for links to sound examples, plus if you take ever this stuff out on
the road, please forward when and where.
