One suggestion - look locally. There are no shipping charges and you find
unexpected treasures.
Once I picked up a 15 MHz B&K scope, a signal generator and an analog multimeter
(I love those things!) for $65 at a yard sale. That was a good day. And yes, the
scope worked fine.
I also occasionally find equipment and parts for sale on Craigslist.

Subject: [sdiy] where to buy a scope
Hello all,
I've been working without a scope for about a year now and I think
it's time I get one. I am a beginner and on a budget, so I don't need
something loaded with features. I would also like to buy used if I
could. I've looked at ebay, but I'm unsure about some of the scopes
placed there.
Can any of you recommend a good dealer in used or simple scopes? What
features should being looking for if I am doing audio work? What price
ranges am I looking at for a brand new basic scope?
Thanks for any help you can give.
