No matrix chip I know provides gain controll in each crosspoint, so they're out. But for matrix-only module, yes, why not. But do they alow for +/-15V signal range?
I know we were talking a lot about 5V modular, but 15V matrix module would be usefull to much more people than one 5V modular that noone wants anyway.
Zarlink (formerly known as Mitel) makes MT8816, which is 8x16 analog switch array, but works olny up to 12Vpp signal.
And also other, smaller matrices.
