One can be frustrated seeing virtual sliders in $5000 synth with a lot of panel space and only so tiny display to do everything. I can't afford it, so I don't have that problem ;) But if the LCD takes almost full space of the module, its resolution will be better. And there could be coarse/fine sliders. OK, data entry knob is fine too, more convenient as you can rest your hand on it.
This was only crazy idea, because it requires hundreds of VCAs anyway.
And now something that may kick me out of this forum:
Make an array of 10ADCs and 10DACs. Say any 24/192 depending on your choice. Feed them all into DSP and make matrix in firmware.
That's cheaper and way smaller than 100VCAs and 100CVs to controll them, not to mentiom the crosspoints in themselves.
