Seems I should record some examples with my flute... ;-)
But perhaps a better flutist than me should do this.
But I think we're missing the point. If something that provides presets
to an instrument is required or not, is not so much a matter of how
much the instrument's possible sounds differ. It's more a matter how
difficult it is to switch between the sounds. Perhaps a player of a
modular synth wants to switch fast between very similar presets, but
still needs presets because it takes so long to re-patch and re-adjust
the knobs.
