Thanks for the feedback, Glen and Jay.
This was the "steam powered" approach. Much cooler to use a
micro-based system, yes! Let each module have its own brain. Digital
switches (which this has)
There are probably some cool matrix switch ICs that would make a 16 x
16 router. (Chime in on that, anyone!)

No, the preset controls aren't designed to withstand "constant use."
The best DIP lifetimes I've seen are 5,000 and 10,000 cycles. The
trimpots last... I dunno. But then, how many sets of presets are you
going to set per year, lifetime average? ;-)
