John & All,

Interesting idea. The thing that would get me is that there is only one configuration per panel. If you wanted a different one you would have to have another panel or re-tweak one. If you have to re-tweak a panel you've lost the convence of having the preset panels.

My biggest worry would be the quality of components. If I was to build something like this I'd want it to last a long time. Those trim pots and little switchs aren't all that heavy duty and aren't made for constant use. Might want to check the rotational life of the trim pots and the number of makes/breaks for dip switches. Also for longevity it would be a good idea to used sealled parts to keep contaminates out.

Another solution would be to do it digitally with a uC, DAC and electronic switches. Probable cost more but the above issues go away and you could store multiple configurations.
