The SHARC has to be *the* DSP of the moment, fast, low power and floating
point!
The Dev kits are quite pricey though.

I would say, be sure the dvekit has everything you want, and then get the
best you can afford.

Let us know how you get on, I'd love to see and hear more DSP development on
this Synth DIY list..
