I didn't actually build an expo converter based on a LUT,
but a few years ago I ran several software simulations for a
project of mine that is still sitting on the shelf...
AFAIR 64 K of 16 bits words offered enough resolution.
If you want, as soon as I have a minute, I can dig out my
archives...
