I found the Maplin magazine with the SSM2044 Data File article (Feb 91).
It doesn't really offer any interesting insights or tricks - they
mention the ideal requirement for a reverse log pot to control the Q
current, but don't give an electronic solution to this. They suggest
using a log pot in reverse, or adding a resistor in series with the 0v
end of the pot "thus discarding the lower 25% of the Q response curve,
where little change is evident". Yeah, nice engineering solution...
If anyone is really desperate I could scan it, but I don't think you're
missing much.
