Getting OT I realize, but this reminds me of the first
time I saw Max Webster, circa 1983. We're all sitting
and waiting for the show to start. Some guy that looks
like a burned-out hippie comes out and taps the mic
and says "Check" a few times. We're all waiting for
the "there will be no smoking in the auditorium" speech.
Instead, he picks up a guitar and starts tuning it
in a desultory fashion, while still saying "Check" into
the mic at random. We're all trying to figure out
who this guy is -- a totally out-of-it roadie?

Suddenly he yells "Check this out!" and cuts loose
with a guitar solo. Turns out the "burned out hippie"
is Kim Mitchell. The rest of the band runs on and
they launch into the song "Check", which at the time
had no lyrics other than Mitchell yelling "Check
this out!" and "Check!" at crucial points.
