Thankyou for your comments,
I did consider having the metal guilotined up locally. I know a place, and
have used them before, to cut aluminium, but they can only gaurentee
accuracy to withing one milimeter. Other places that ive called have said
the same. As im going to be wanting a load of pannels, and probably wanting
the option to expand in future, i wanted them to 'match' one another better
than this.
Again, i could try and make them myself, but then i dont 'hate' the oval
holes enough.. ; )
Doepfer gets the pannels machned themselves. The prices are fine on bulk,
but id be restricted to using equal width pannels for all my modules, as the
machine charge is spread across all the blanks of the same size. It would
start to work out too expensive if i wanted lots of different size pannels.
Again, i want to leave my way as open as possible for future expansion.
Maplin, if they sell any eurocard stuff anymore, certainly didnt sell much
last time i looked...
And with shaeffer - firstly im not keen on their software. Not being able
to specify coordinates is irritating to me... ; ) And plus, theres cost
again. 24 pannels are going to work out a lot more then if i just use the
blanks withthe oval holes.
In conclusion, i may consider useing doepfers company some more, and see if
i can restrict myself so as its ecomomicaly feasible (as i can buy 8hp
blanks 'off the shelf' fromthem anyway) or ill just accept it and go for
the oval holes.
Thanks for evreyones input. Much appreciated.
Julian
