(Note to self: Avoid gender-specific pronouns! Laurie Biddulph is a he. My
mistake. Sorry, Laurie!)

I invite the list to comment on this (please?); see the latest info from LB,
below. I'm just a DIY beginner and can't really answer these questions.

For instance, which op amps are "good enough" for mixers and EQ circuits?
(Discrete and tube freaks try to hold back! ;-)

I will be using MIDI control and had anticipated using MIDI to CV to give me
the voltage controlled outputs that I would need for each section.

As I expect to be using VCA's VCF's etc which are all synth circuits I
thought that although the application is not a synthesiser, that the fact
that the modules used where fundamentally synth stuff that this would be
deemed on-topic.

So I will be using VCA's for input balancing and panning control and some
form of VCF for the Equaliser (multiple SVFs?).

The question is of course how high-quality is high and are the standard VCAs
using LM13700 or CA3080 high enough? There is no specific need for recording
quality, although that would be a bonus, as the main function is live
performance and stage noise will be so dominant that a small amount of noise
in the system could probably be tolerated although not desirable.
