[sdiy] Voltage Controlled Mixer

Hi everyone,

Does anybody out there have some schematics for making a voltage-controlled mixer? I need to build a mixer desk for the dance-band I work with.

I need to have:-

1.. a minimum of two input signal options - microphone or line
  2.. 1 line-output
3.. a minimum of 4 bands of filter control (basic cut and boost over a band with centre-frequencies of, say, 100Hz, 1kHz, 2kHz and 10kHz)
4.. level control (zero to unity)
I plan on using MIDI control so the hardware would consist of:-

1.. multiple 4-channel sub-mixer units with the above specification. Each of these units will be potentially capable of being expanded to 16-channels each
  2.. up to 16 sub-mixer units in a system.
3.. 1 sub-mixer with only mixing capabilities ie no filter control and line-in only.
There will also be a master-mixer which will take the outputs from sub-mixers and will be used to generate a psuedo-stereo output for driving the front-of-house amp/speakers.

Eventually I hope to implement the MIDI link from the main controller to the master-mixer over a radio link to allow me to move around the audience are and adjust the mixers as I go.

I would like, also, any advise on a suitable cable for joining these units together. Ideally the one cable would support the MIDI data connection, audio output and power (+/-18VDC ?). The intention here is to minimise the number of cables that need to be laid down when setting up the band. By using multiple sub-mixers I can place each sub-mixer close to the signal devices (microphones, DI boxes etc) for the various band sections and connect them back to the sub-mixer (3 above) before running to the master-mixer.

Best Regards
