[sdiy] Polysix without programmer?

I had the same problem with the modulation and corrupt (distortion,
unstoppable chorus) sounds in manual mode.
I replaced about 30 traces and 5 ic's on the infamous board. After that
everything was ok again...

Please ignore the fool at this end of the line. (That would be me. ;-) As
Jim C kindly pointed out, there is a manual mode, and it works fine. How you
say... Doh!
Unfortunately, this P6 has the same unstoppable modulation problem that Jim
reported -- but in this case, the mod wheel is not to blame. I'm hoping
there's just a trim problem. Sure wish I had a proper service manual, but
all I've got are low quality schematics. Hopefully that's enough to go on.

(I've obviously never used a properly functioning Polysix, and I seem to be
blind, too!)
