Same tech was featured in a hi-tech show on dutch telly about a year ago.
Dr. Frank Joseph Pompei, from Medialab MIT showed several working
applications,
like individual music for each seat in a car.

The show is Dutch but most is English spoken

In the menu of the popup goto >>kijken<<  then <video>
Item 2 = focused audio
item 5 = focused beam as weapon
item 6 = the whole show

Think the focused audio would work great for "paranormal séances".
Put pp in a circle around a table, target each chair with a sound beam and
tell them you will channel the voice of their dead goldfish directly in to
their head.
