I dont think that is a good enough explanation of the technique...
Bend the saw into an S shaped curve... then bowing or hitting
with a mallet will give the desired sound.
A single bend in the saw makes almost no sound

In prehistorc days we used this instead of theremin... of course we had to
dig the ore by hand, and make our own furnaces fired with coal... :^P
