Of course the fenix has this hold function, but it is called tpeak.  It is
done with a RC timer after the peak has been reach. The only problem was
that the peak is also voltage controlled

Though both methods will work, I believe that a one-shot would be the better
way.  The reason is that to use clipping, the ADSR signal has to be variably
amplified.  In doing so, the sustain part of the signal, which is also a
controllable level, will also be amplified.  Because of this, the clipping
amplification setting will interact with the sustain level.  With the one
shot method, no such interaction will occur, regardless of the time dialed
up
for punch.  Jim's method, which I also presented, can do this with only
passive components, a cap, a pot and a diode and can also be applied to
designs I've seen that use a threshhold detector and RS flipflop.
