[sdiy] (semi-OT) phototransistor

Anyone have a favorite generic visible light 
phototransistor they can recommend? 
Especially from Digikey, 
because I have some other parts to order 
from them. Nothing jumped out at me on 
their website.

Main boring use will be to monitor panel leds 
on some test equipment. I'm using some 
phototransistor in an old box that 
I carbon dated from the 70's, but I need 
something I can get more of.

I also want to play with listening to ambient 
light (incandescent, florescent, tv, flame 
in a feedback loop...) and such. 
LDRs are too slow.
