Thank you all so much for your opinions. I think part of the problem with the ICL8038 is that it looks SO easy on paper. However, I'm glad I saved myself the dissapointment. And, yes, the 4046 IC in various forms is one of my favorites. I'm glad to hear that others agree. Mark
