Michael,
Harry Bissell recently told me the following:

    If you have a ramp... you can do suboctave ramps
    easily using the korg method that JH has on his site
    *iirc its the VCO from the JH720 based on the MS-20

While I did not see any comments about a suboctave generator, nor did I
analyze the schematics in an attempt to find one. JH's site is here:
