Wow. Not to be the doting mother here, but shouldn't you be wearing protective eyeware? I think special glasses are made to absorb the specific frequency of light in use.  
 

I used some of those on a project several years ago
(an optics experiment that flew on the Mir space station).
They work well -- too well, in fact.  They absorb so much of
the wavelength that you can't see the beam at all.
We kept having to peek out of one corner to see if
the laser was on or not.  (A very bad thing, because
in addition to the visible green laser, the unit also included 
an infrared laser.  Somehow we got it done with no injuries.)
