[sdiy] frequency counter

The "ear" we're talking about is an intellectual/emotional state and Scott's
anecdote underscore's this well, as many have experience this or analogous
states.

Pete's example of "lining up" VCO's upon reciept from trans-atlantic
shipping is a good example of what ear tuning easily does.

The outgoing test for the VCO's however was surely done with equipment to
ensure a conformity with spec, a coherency of characteristic across the
production lot, and to precisely un-couple from a technicians
intellectual/emotional state.

A compositional "ear" is more endangered by "fatigue" than the tuning "ear"
in my opinion.

regards,
p

I see your point.

An argument to this - if you have reached the point where your ear fatigue
cannot suitably pick off tuning, then I'm confident that there would be
other complications from that fatigue that would cause problems in your
composing as well that that given time.
