i love the idea of making post-modular modules... the sort of irony of
having an almost one chip module... i'm actually going to check out the
sequential split-8 in a few hours, and depending on how much i like it i
might end up actually gutting it and starting a modular... eight VCOs and
Filters, with no EGs... sure to annoy some one.

knobbing up the chips is easy... the biggest cost would be Pots [when
isn't it?], i remember that the CEM3373 only allows max input of 0v to +5v,
so for it to be a stand alone module and not have to worry about interfacing
with signals that will blow it up, you can just add circuits to the +5v max
inputs so anything coming in is brought down to the right levels. i'm not
sure about the inputs on the CEM3374, but you would have to do something
similar, since the chip isn't 0 - 10 v cv...

if i do go through making a modular with the CEM3394s from the Split-8,
i would be adding 0-10v to -/+5v circuits to each input i will be using on
the chip, so that each module is compatable with any 0-10v modules [except
for the slightly lower scale, instead of 1v/oct it is a little smaller]. i
would like it to be as compatable as possible, but you may want to do yours
differently depending on what you plan to make.

Aaron Cram [from somewhere on this list], is working on a modular based
on the CEM3394 [ http://www.ori.org/~aaronc/synth/ ], but he connected the
0-10v to -/+5v converters at the Paia midi2cv module outputs, while mine
would be before the CEM3394 modules.

i was about to say you could probably sell the chips for the same amount
you would get selling the dead chroma polaris, while at the same time
looking up the price... oops!... damn you Schriber and your good deals.
selling the chroma polaris, you might be better off... think of all the time
you would save not making modules.
