Wow, you're the first American DIY guy I've met who didn't grow up on
Forrest Mims (and maybe Don Lancaster)! ;-)

The back issues of Electronotes (Google it) are legendary. (I should scrape
up the $300, myself, huh?)

Speaking of Electronotes, Bernie states that "Volumes 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11
... are the heart of the analog synthesizer work." Vols 7-11 are sold for a
paltry $32. Can somebody please confirm that?

Thomas Henry has some good books:
http://www.midwest-analog.com/catbooks.html.

"Musical Applications of Microprocessors" by Hal Chamberlin is an
interesting book, I've been learning from it -- it has analog and digital
content. You might see if the library has it.

Re: websites, Grant Richter's other site, http://www.musicsynthesizer.com/,
has more useful DIY links than his Wiard site does. www.modularsynth.com and
www.synthdiy.com (for searches) are some other good starting points.
