In order for for us to be able to help you, a little more information
would be helpful.  :-) Such as... What is it that you aim to achieve
with synth diy?  Is there some particular type of equipment that you
want to build from scratch?  From a kit?  Are you interested in
modifying a piece of equipment?  Have you built any other types of
electronic equipment?  What type of experience do you have with music
or sound synthesis?  How would you describe your knowledge of
electronics?  That is, are you familiar with basic electronics theory,
schematic diagrams, circuit design, kit building, etc.?

The more important questions can wait for later, such as: "Are you
capable of having a messy, cluttered, work area?"
