The KRL's I've been using are rated at 0.35 W and seem to be fine. I'd
worry about going below 1/4 W. I'm sure the 0.1 W, 805 series SMT present
a bit of a problem. As you point out, it depends some on how you mount
them. If you pot them up, the self-heating will be more of an issue. I
like the components in good thermal contact with each other, but free to
radiate into draft-free, isothermal environment, as in a metal enclosure.
