On public request, I have put the schematics of the EH DRM-16 on the web for
you.
In the schamtic, there are four amplifiers named "1048". This refers to the
EH1048, which is actually a CA3094. Which in turn is more or less a CA3080
with a darlington output. Maybe you can replace them with some other OTA
(such as CA3080, NE5517 or LM13600). But I would not recommend that, since
one of them is the noise source and quite possibly the key to the true
DRM-16 sound.
Yes, the DRM-16 sounds really cool, a whitenoise sort of autofunk drummer.
Also, the "Space drum" is unique and superfunky. It would be nice to hear
some sort of jazz beat out of it, but alas, it has only country, funk, disco
and rock. I think one of the things that is so great with it is that the
patterns are so well programmed.
I have put the schematics (two pages) on
http://www.minod.com/drm16/schem.htm
Unfortunately, the first page is low in resolution. I will try to fix that,
but right now I am not good friends with the scanner. But the voicing
schematics are readable.
Good luck!
