I happen to actually have a matlab script that does measure the frequency
from sampled audio. Pretty accurately too - it can track 0.001Hz
variations. It's only good for medium/long term drift (~1 sec or longer
timespan), but I believe it's still useful.
I'm only missing a synth to record :( (Waldorf Pulse isn't much help with
it's DCOs).
For me, the ideal case would be to have two oscillators recorded in stereo
(one left, one right) simultaneously. Tune to unison at the start of
recording and then play a constant note for 5-15 mins (say, C5 262.6Hz -
exact frequency doesn't really matter that much). Preferably using a
quality audio interface (I'm assuming consumer soundcard crystals are not
very stable).
