My wife has only about 20 pairs of shoes, but they are everywhere. Fortunately from the start I ocupied 5sqm space and she agreed it's my sanctuary and will never touch anything in there. Well, she uses my computer sometimes.
The deal is - the amount spent on parts must be equalized by dress, cosmetics, and other gearly stuff. Same applies to time spent with PC/soldering iron and wife. Never cross those boundaries.
I'm half a year after marriage and I still keep my DIY corner, not to mention synths hanging on the walls in the living room.
