This shows a variable +/- supply and assumes that you are using an AC
wall wart.

The Rdrop resistor is optional and depends on the voltage differential
on the regulators at typical load. You want ideally about 3V but this is
just a rule of thumb, so check the regulator data sheet for differential
vs load mA. Too big a differential results in a lot of regulator
heating. Outputs of 100 mA or less are usually not hard to design.
