Yes, and I like to understand why things are like they are.
Or perhaps also to discover that myth is larger then actual effect.

Then you can build perhaps a "better" VCO (in terms of 
musical quality).

Building can in fact be a part of the thing, since
so many oscillator cores have been published now on sdiy,
a comparison would be very nice.
