Last concert I went to (2 weeks ago) the STAR performer played an electric
violin through a wireless system and then into the PA. She also sang with a
wireless mike. The backing band was a mix of her CD tracks (minus the violin?)
At least once she was playing a duet with her self - the violin kept playing
while she stopped.
The local R&R band that opened for her was much better. Some old geezers on real
instruments - Guitarist w/ Fender Telly, vocals, harmonic, Bass Player w/
imitation Fender Bass (Ibanez?), vocals only once, Sax Player with two different
Saxes, vocals when not playing, decent young drummer with backing vocals. All
playing through hardwired mikes and on stage amps except the sax. Sax was both
wireless and pick-up over his vocal mic on a stand.
Got there late and enjoyed the local band. Had to leave after an hour of the
star act because sound was soooo bad.
Talent doesn't matter if the sound is horrendous.

PS The local symphony is awful. We do occasionally go to listen. That's what I
get for living in a small town. However its only a five minute drive (when the
tourists aren't in town) from home to a white sand beach on the Gulf of Mexico.
