Talking about ribbon controllers, I have lately made a controller using the
ondes martenot technique.
I just love the method how you control that thing. I build it pretty simple
but it works very good. It's basically just a nice shelf with a strong
(double) wire and a ring in the middle, tightened with rubber wheels at both
ends with a 10-turn pot at one of them. It looks just like a real ondes
martenot. Simple but effective.
I don't know how good it feels compared to a ribbon, because I never used
one before, but it's certainly good enough to me, it really has a nice very
easy "drag" on your finger which I like. Feels great and helps in making
nice glissandos in my opinion. And your don't have to press at the board all
the time either :)
As soon as I can manage to launch my website I'll add it for sure.
