[sdiy] making PCBs, what's your method?

I have been tempted to post a follow-up question to this thread, since an
original email I posted not long ago related to this thread never got
through to the list. Now Paul has posted, the fact it is now banging closer
to home begs me to ask again, maybe it will get through this time.
I was searching earlier for PCB manufacturers that happily service my home
town Perth in West Australia. My workplace had some boards made up by a
place called East Coast Circuits, but relative to the the discussion of
late, they do seem a bit pricey (although I have seen the boards, and they
do not seem too bad).
Cheers

p.s. in agreement, protel seems to be the program in use in this neck of the
woods. It's a bit like vegemite, if you were bought up on it, you like it,
if you weren't, it tastes like poo.
Cheers again

Olimex were pretty rude to me when I asked
would they take a Protel file.
(Protel is pretty widely used in Asia.)
I'm using Melbourne Printed Circuits (in Melbourne
Australia) for my stuff.
