I know Google is your friend, but at times you don't search the right way and
out into orbit you go...

Seems reasnoble. I didn't even bother to check the other products, so maybe
that's where I went wrong.

I'll check. After doing some searches for LCD controllers I've found that the
HD44780 seems to match how I see the control-pins reach the controller (which
I only can see from the side). So now I beleive it is something like a HD44780
and 4 HD44100 setup in this display. Anyway, I have the HD44780 datasheet
(thanks to the almost infinit resources of Internet and Google as a guide to
them) and the datasheet you dug up should be a nice complement.

I have another LCD with the HD44780 so I better learn control it anyway.
