[sdiy] Diffused LEDs tip

All,

I just purchased the 100 3mm blue LEDs from eBay that was recommended here a
couple of weeks ago for $16.50,from Hong Kong...what a great deal. I am
going to use some of these for a 32 stage sequencer that I am building.
They have water clear lenses and are really bright...almost too bright for
just indicators. I would have preferred diffused lenses since they are not
going to be used as flashlights. I have found that if you spray them with
Rust-Oleum "Frosted Glass" spray they look just like standard diffused LEDs
and no longer blind you. I poked some holes in cardboard just big enough
for the leads to fit snug and pushed them all the way into the holes to keep
the spray off of the leads. Now you can get a bunch of clear LEDs and use
them for clear or diffused applications.
