As I expected, distortion becomes apparent when the input signal is more
than 100 mV P-P. With a triangle input, the distortion presents itself as
a spline instead of a straight ramp. It is quite symmetrical, however, so
it might be useful in some voltage controlled distortion/waveshaping
applications (which I will give some thought). I tested the H11F1 as a
shunt device fed by both a 10K and a 100K resistor from a buffered AC
source. Feed resistor size made little difference in performance.
So for my application, it seems any sort of FET for filter tuning will
simply not work.
