I would just like to say thanks to everyone who gave me some advice regarding banana socket conversion. I have done some tests with unshielded cable to see if interference would be a problem and it appears that what I thought was a crack house down the road is in fact a pirate radio station! (though I'm still pretty sure they do the crack as a sideline)
I live in a less than salubrious area of south London where the musics of choice are grime, eski and D&B, which whilst okay to listen to on their own do not tend to sit in the mix too comfortably, the shouting (mc-ing)doesn't help too much either. I am surprised that it has not been an issue before, but I think I shall put my plans on hold until I move to a more rural location.
