[sdiy] MIDI to variable output triggers (x5)

Hey Everybody,
I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion on the
cheapest way to get 5 variable output level
pulses/triggers from MIDI?
I have an old Simmons brain (SDS-8) that I want to get
plugged into my sequencer.
