[sdiy] Chemical Synth

My last chemistry class was long, long ago but here's my theory...
Salt is made of sodium and chlorine (NaCl). Dissolved in water the salt
separate into Na and Cl ions (charged atoms). Seeking to return their charge
to zero the ions are attracted to the aluminum and the copper. Once they hit
the metals they form new compounds. So what I think we are hearing is the
sound of 1) the ions bumping into each other as they travel through the
solution and 2) the ions bonding to the metals.

I would think the wire acts as an antenna picking up interference, and
the aluminium bar or water don't really do that much.
