Hey John, Jim, Roy, Phil..
Thanks for the replies. The 1975 Motorola Linear databook does not
mention any of these devices. However, an IC application book by J. Lenk
from 1973 mentions that the MC300 and MC304 are Motorola ECL chips...
so maybe the MC351G (to MC360G inclusive in this batch) are also ECL.
Didn't realize that ECL went back that far, but Lenk says early RTL
chips were available in 1960-1961.
Regards, Mike
BTW Roy, apparently there was a huge amount of interest in tunnel
diodes when they became available, they were the fastest semiconductor
devices around, but they have some very severe power-handling
limitations and drive requirements, vacuum tubes still outperformed
tunnel diodes in microwave applications and transistors soon surpassed
them at UHF. Tektronix apparently used them to advantage in their scope
trigger circuits.
