I think there are thousands of circuits employing this chip. Not 
necessarily synthesizer circuits. But even there you can make 
oscillators, LFOs, Envelope Generators, flip flops, trigger delays.

I thought for a second if that would be "grain of sand". You can make a 
lot of different semiconductors out of that :-)
