I designed a small range of products a while back and made the power LEDs 
blue, mainly because I'd always wanted the excuse to put blue LEDs in 
something. The production units had the cheapest possible no-name LEDs, 
which were OK, but for the prototypes we used Agilent "Precision Optical 
Performace" parts (from Farnell in the UK). They had a non-diffused package 
and hence a somewhat reduced viewing angle, but within that angle they were 
VERY blue and VERY bright (I'm assuming you like bright?). 

A customer joked that the beam pinned him to the wall when he entered the 
room... :-)
