You're doing fine. I'd try the second opamp circuit myself, the one that
reads:
"Voltage divider biasing is also possible with the opamp and the input
impedance is calculated the same way as with the transistor versions
similarly biased."
It has low parts count, and good performance. Don't worry about that "some
believe opamps are sterile sounding" stuff, that just means it doesn't
colour your sound. For your application that's great. The schematic is also
fairly simple...just remember that ground is the negative of your battery,
and that 10uF cap is an electrolytic and need to have the correct pin
connected to the + side on the diagram. The opamp could be exchanged for
many different opamp types.
Bug me later tonight if you need a real diagram, and I'll draw one up and
email it direct.
