Remember that the inputs can't take that much voltage-difference for linearity
reasons, so that's why you see the damping at the input. That part you should
adjust depending on the range of the input voltages.

Oh, that standard offset-trimming pot is a seriously bad way of doing it.
Reason? When adjusting it for input offset correction, you also changes the
gain of the input-damping and thus of the whole curcuit.
