I don't know about the M1K, but the M6R OS v2.13 was optimized for MIDI 
guitar.  It does indeed have a "Reassign" mode which assigns the same 
voice for repeated keys, and you could set up the M6R where contiguous 
MIDI channels are assigned unique voices.  This is from memory, I sold 
my M6R years ago.

Correct.

But the M6R has a mode where each voice can be assigned contiguous MIDI 
channels, ideal for MIDI guitars.

Not only that, the DCOs->VCF->VCA audio path is hardwired on the silicon
