[sdiy] Matrix 6R / 1000 question

what are you using for a guitar synth? i recently almost got to buy a matrix
1000 [for pretty cheap too!] and never even thought about using it with one
of my guitar synths [gr-33 and gr-700 yay!]. a question on the setup... you
are obviously using the guitar synth to operate in mono mode, with each
string out per channel, which makes sense for recording, but why not use a
midi utility box or program to have it combine channels 1-6 back into one,
and then have it go into the matrix 1000/6 as a poly signal? main downpoint:
no one makes any midi utility gear anymore garhhh...
