Not to worry about the 2SC1583 - if you don't mind ordering from two
different places - American Micro Semi has them for 28 cents apiece.
They're the real deal - I've ordered them before.

I just assumed this was common knowledge - it's been that way for nearly a
year. Guess I should have 'crowed' about it on the list =-D
I've always found American Micro Semi to be rather bizarre, price-wise -
check out the 2SC1583 price, then look how much they want for standard,
easily obtainable transistors - weird!
BTW, I've found a good tool for finding stuff is froogle.com, a beta
offshoot of Google.
