I don't have enough experience in such areas to comment specifically on the 
technology.

However, I can say that I talked to them at NAMM on Thursday and their 
local rep Ivan Chiang (ivan.chiang at anadigm.com) seemed cool and overall 
small-developer friendly.

The basic developer kit including design software is $200.  Ivan also 
mentioned a "higher up" kit that was normally $400 (or something similar) 
but you can get it for $200 if you're a contractor/consultant... which I 
think means you just have to say "I'm a consultant".

That cost on the design software is a one-time charge regardless of how 
many programmed chips you sell.  In small quantities they quoted about $10 
per chip.
